LUXURY TRAIN FROM CUSCO TO MACHU PICCHU
There are many ways to describe this service but nothing better than the history of a traveler who personally lived the experience and shared it with us.
“We had planned our trip to Peru for months and we were very excited, we hoped that everything would turn out well and now, very happy, we can assure that it did. Planning our trip in advance allowed us to identify many things that we could improve and as time went by we did so and when the moment approached we felt a slight feeling of excitement and nerves because the day we had waited so long for had finally arrived. First we boarded a transport to the Poroy station, on the way it occurred to me to ask the driver if the trip we had chosen was worth it, he with a slight smile replied that he couldn’t explain it in words and that later I would understand, I didn’t pay much attention but we continued the trip, our driver left us at the entrance door of the train station and a very kind person accompanied us to get to the waiting point. Suddenly something surprised us. We didn’t know how to explain it. A very sweet melody began to play that intertwined with your thoughts and made you think that you were in heaven. It was indeed a group of people who had instruments in their hands and with great joy. They played as if they knew us, then, we were received by and an Andean welcome, which caused me a lot of interest and joy to see that they were excited about our early experience. Suddenly a group of people began to dance with colorful and striking costumes, which gave me a lot of interest and I began to record it to share it with my friends. Finally we proceeded to get on the train, a person very politely offered us some drinks so we could cool down, suddenly we heard a bell ring which made me jump out of my seat and in turn the engines started working. Our experience began on the Hiram Bingham luxury train to Machu Picchu.
On the way I could see a beautiful view of the Andes in the distance, that is the view that I will always have in my mind because somehow remembering it makes me feel calm and relieved, it is strange but I cannot explain it in words. It was then that someone invited us to go to one of the cars that was at the end, they told us that it was like an observatory, we gladly agreed and arrived to find a group of people who were happily playing Peruvian folk music which made us feel better because we could share with them a moment of tranquility and joy. Then they told us that we should go to the front car because it was time to enjoy the food. I cannot describe in words the emotion I felt when taking the first bite. I can only say that I felt like I had touched heaven. The food was exquisite, neither too little nor too much, just enough. We settled down so we could continue observing the beautiful landscape while we talked and were surprised by everything we saw but as they say, time flies and our trip has reached our destination Agua Calientes. Upon arrival, they transferred us to a private bus just for our group, which allowed us to get to the control gate where they asked us for our documents. After verification, we entered with our guide who, by the way, was an expert in the history of the place.
Finally we arrived at the place that we had dreamed of so much. Machu Picchu was in front of us, there was no screen in the way, there were no kilometers or excuses, it was there and we were in it. The Inca citadel of stones on the mountain was finally within our reach and with each step we took we became more excited and wanted to stay longer, although it was not possible we enjoyed every minute inside, each explanation we received gave us the answer to the constant question what were we doing: And what is that? When we finished the tour, the guide was told that we should wait for our transportation and he invited us to go to a space inside a building that was close to the citadel. We enjoyed a delicious snack that filled our palate and finally our transportation arrived to return us to the town of Aguas Calientes. We were already satisfied and very happy, we managed to enter the station again and once again we heard that melodious bell, it was the beginning of our return trip, and although we only expected to enjoy the landscape on the way back we had a great surprise because the party and celebration was not over yet. Again we enjoyed a beautiful show with Andean music that once again made us dance and enjoy with the local people, the food was again exquisite and unintentionally we ended up back in the observatory car with a glass of champagne that made the moment magical, so without further ado, our day was finally over, we had returned to our starting point where our driver was waiting for us with that smile that characterized and asked me the question: was it worth it? I had no words and I just felt with my head and a very big smile on my face…”
